Latest Tottenham news: Mauricio Pochettino blasts players after 2-1 loss to Southampton
Mauricio Pochettino was extremely upset after the 2-1 loss to Southampton. Tottenham had taken the lead via Harry Kane but goals from Yan Valery and James Ward-Prowse ensured a third defeat in four Premier League outings.
The Argentine claimed that the team played with arrogance and added there was a lot of work to be done. Speaking after the game, Pochettino further claimed he was disappointed with the performance (h/t Daily Mail):
“That shows we still have a lot of work to do. That shows that we are not mature enough.
“If you want to be a real contender, we cannot arrive here with the arrogance of a Champions League quarter-finalist. I am so, so, so disappointed. It’s about complacency, and arrogance.”
Spurs in danger of missing out on top four
Tottenham were once challenging for the title but now are in real danger of missing out on the top four.
Arsenal are now just one point behind us and Man United are three away. Spurs have been great in Europe after their first three group games but their lack of form in recent weeks is alarming.
The team don’t have the easiest fixture list in the league, with trips to Anfield and the Etihad remaining.
Spurs did back off a bit in the second half, allowing Southampton to mount a comeback and many fans weren’t sure who to blame regarding the latest loss.
For Spurs to reach the next level Poch needs to get his act together with his inplay managment…..

I don’t blame the gaffer for this bad result as the 11 had showed in 1st half the points where for taking , players have to produce, but after a bad result the manager keeps diluting expectations of fans this isn’t right poch ….. Just take it we fucked up

Love him.
Speaking the truth. Honest and open, doesn’t use excuses like other managers out there, doesn’t go on the aggressive with players (we have no idea what goes on behind closed doors, unlike some other managers), and isn’t afraid to speak up.#COYS #THFC— Luke LNEMS (@travel_luke) March 9, 2019
Maybe stop flirting with Madrid and concentrate on your paid job.

What does everyone expect ffs?? Poch can only do so much with the players he has improved. Defence rotation is questionable but all top managers rotate, we just haven’t put our hand in our pocket to get any decent full backs. Poch is working with what he is given!
