Tottenham transfer news: Manchester City lead race to sign Tanguy Ndombele
Tanguy Ndombele is one of the best midfielders in Ligue 1 at the moment. The 22-year-old joined Lyon on loan from Amiens last season and is now rated at £50million (h/t Express).
The defensive midfielder has two goals and five assists to his name in all competitions and has been impressive for Lyon in their Champions League games too.
The Frenchman has impressed against Manchester City and Barcelona, and reports claim that the Cityzens are leading the race for Ndombele.
A blow for Tottenham
The Express adds that Tottenham were linked with the midfielder, with Manchester United and Juventus also keeping an eye on the 22-year-old.
Tottenham haven’t made many moves in the transfer windows in recent seasons but sold Mousa Dembele recently to open up a spot in the first-team.
The report adds that City missed out on two signings for their midfield, with Fred and Jorginho joining other Premier League rivals. City are looking for a long-term replacement for Fernandinho (h/t Express), and it seems the Frenchman fits the bill.
Ndombele has proved he can play against the best in the world and would be an incredible signing for Spurs. The Frenchman would not come on the cheap but has the potential to get better in the coming years.

The problem lies with our finances and it will be difficult for us to match the transfer fees that Manchester City would be willing to splash in the summer.
