Tottenham transfer news: Spurs to battle with Manchester United for Davide Calabria

AC Milan defender Davide Calabria is a target for Tottenham, according to Calciomercato (h/t Football.london).

The 22-year-old has impressed for the Milan giants with 27 appearances in all competitions this season.

The report adds that Manchester United are also keeping an eye on the right-back, who can play in midfield.

The 22-year-old Italian has one goal and an assist to his name this season and seems to be one of the brightest prospects in the Serie A.

Milan want to keep hold of their rising star, and the report adds that they will try to refuse all offers from the Premier League pair for Calabria.

Tottenham could do with another right-back

Tottenham have had their problems with the right-back position this season. Kieran Trippier should have continued his form from the World Cup, however, the Englishman has struggled to reach the heights from the summer.

Serge Aurier is a decent option at the back, but the Ivorian is inconsistent. Kyle Walker-Peters still needs to develop and had a tough time in our 2-1 defeat to Southampton.

Calabria could develop into a quality defender and the player has proved his potential by becoming the first-choice right-back at Milan.

Tottenham need to keep their options open for the summer as we look to build from a season that promised so much.
