Tottenham transfer news: Gareth Bale’s agent squashes rumours of Christian Eriksen exchange
Gareth Bale’s agent, Jonathan Barnett, has claimed that many stories regarding his client.
The Evening Standard reports that Christian Eriksen is a target for Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid while Bale didn’t have a great relationship with the Frenchman during his first spell in charge.
However, speaking on BBC’s Football Daily podcast, Bale’s agent rubbished any claims of a swap between the two clubs (h/t Evening Standard):
“Recently a journalist wrote about Gareth Bale going to Tottenham for Eriksen – that Real Madrid were going to offer Bale plus £50million for Eriksen, which is complete rubbish because even today Gareth is worth a lot more.”
The agent added that the media makes up stories which annoy him.
Bale wants to stay in Madrid
Barnett added that Bale could stay at Madrid and wants to play for the remainder of his career at the Spanish capital. The agent further told that Bale would speak with the manager and see how things go.
“He will talk with Mr Zidane, take it from there and then see at the end of the season.”
Bale would make an exceptional signing for us, and it will be interesting to see how things develop with him and the Frenchman till the end of the season.
The Welshman hasn’t been great for Real this season, however, he could turn things around in the coming weeks.
Eriksen’s situation at Tottenham isn’t great too with the Dane not having signed a new deal. The midfielder would be a free agent at the end of the next season and it would be a blow losing him on a free.

The Dane is one of the best midfielders in the Premier League and replacing him would be difficult.
