Tottenham transfer news: Tottenham uninterested in Inter Milan star Matias Vecino

Tottenham are not interested in moving for Inter Milan midfielder Matias Vecino, according to Calciomercato.

The report claims that Spurs had tracked the Uruguayan, however, they do not want to spend the €30m that Inter are asking for Vecino.

The midfielder has been a regular for the Italian giants this season with 31 appearances in all competitions and has three goals to his name.

The report adds that Tottenham will try to sign a younger player instead of the 27-year-old, and want to ensure a longer duration in the team.

Tottenham have free space in the side

Spurs are in need of another quality midfielder after selling Mousa Dembele in the winter window.

Vecino plays in a deep-lying midfielder’s role for Inter and would have been a quality addition to the side.

His price-tag doesn’t seem excessive when compared to some other midfielders in the same position.

However, Spurs looking for a younger player makes sense given that Mauricio Pochettino has a habit of churning out quality talents.

Tottenham have been lucky with the form of Moussa Sissoko this season. The Frenchman has been excellent from a deeper position for the team and was recently called up by the national squad for the upcoming games.

Eric Dier has had his problems with injuries while Harry Winks has been another saving grace in a season where almost every first-team player has been out with an injury.
