Spurs opinion: Nathan Ake is the perfect defender for future problems at Tottenham
The Daily Star reports that Tottenham are keeping tabs on Bournemouth defender Nathan Ake, along with Manchester United and Napoli.
The 24-year-old former Chelsea defender has developed into a quality defender since leaving Stamford Bridge and joining Eddie Howe’s Cherries.
The Dutch defender is also representing the national side and the report claims that with the rising interest in Ake, it would be difficult to keep him at the Vitality.
Tottenham could do with Ake
Spurs have a couple of issues regarding their first-choice centre-back pairing. Toby Alderweireld is out of contract at the end of next season while Jan Vertonghen is 31.
The pair aren’t getting any younger and Spurs require a young defender to step up in case either star picks up an injury.
Davinson Sanchez has done a good job this season, however, he hasn’t always been consistent. Juan Foyth has had some good games but is still a little rough around the edges.
Ake has played 31 times for the Cherries in the Premier League this season and has racked up more than 100 league appearances during his time with Watford and Bournemouth.
The report claims that Napoli see Ake as a £30m target, and Chelsea also have a buy-back clause, however, the defender isn’t keen on returning to the Blues.
The Dutch defender also has an eye for goal and has found the back of the net thrice this season, matching his best return from a couple of seasons ago.
Although Tottenham haven’t spent any money on new signings in two transfer rumours, it would be a surprise if they didn’t bring any fresh faces in the summer.
Daniel Levy recently claimed that Tottenham’s move into the new ground would not affect their ability to spend in the summer too.
Ake has the potential to get even better and working under Mauricio Pochettino could take him to the next level.

The Dutch defender seems ready for a shot at one of the big clubs in the Premier League, and at 24, would provide Pochettino time to work with him.
