Spurs opinion: Gareth Bale returning to Tottenham would be great for both club and player
Gareth Bale has been linked with a move away from Real Madrid recently, and Tottenham are one club that could see the 29-year-old return to the Premier League (h/t Express).
Bale spent six seasons at Tottenham before Real came calling, and the Welsh attacker became one of the best players in La Liga.
The Welsh attacker has won four Champions League crowns and one La Liga title during his time in Spain, but things haven’t been great for him in recent seasons.
The player’s agent spoke about the crowd giving him a rough time recently and further claimed that Bale would speak with Zinedine Zidane about what the plans are for next season.
Tottenham is home for Bale
The Welshman was touted for great things during his time at Southampton and it was at Tottenham where his potential was unlocked.
Starting off as a left-back, the former Saint made the most of his attacking instincts from midfield as he slammed home 21 goals from 33 Premier League games in his last season at the club.
There is a feeling that Bale has some unfinished business at the club, and a return to Tottenham would be great for the player.
The 29-year-old might not be the youngest player returning to the Premier League but he has that winning mentality that Spurs desperately need.
Tottenham seem to miss that little extra that can take them to the next level, and with Bale’s incredible time at Madrid, some of his experience from big games can rub off on the current batch of players.
Spurs also could do with more options in their attack, and a front three of Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Gareth Bale would frighten most defences in the world.
Dele Alli playing behind the trio would be great too and the Welshman was a hit with the fans during his previous spell.
Returning to Spurs would also see him link up with one of the best managers in the Premier League. Pochettino joined after Bale had left, and this could be an interesting dynamic should the deal go through.
Spurs are also moving into a new stadium and having not signed a player for two transfer windows, could do with a big name coming in the summer.
Bale ticks the box in terms of being a big name, he knows the Premier League well and can perform right from day one for Tottenham.
