Spurs opinion: Tottenham need to do all they can and sign Ryan Sessegnon in the summer

Tottenham haven’t signed any players in two transfer windows, but that hasn’t stopped them from being linked with moves in the summer.

The Mirror reports that Ryan Sessegnon is on the radar of the Premier League side, and the English sensation is stalling on a new deal at Fulham.

The Cottagers gained promotion to the Premier League, thanks to Sessegnon’s form last season. The 18-year-old scored 15 times in the Championship last season but this campaign hasn’t been great for him.

Fulham have gone through three managers in the season and seem set for a return to the second division. Sessegnon hasn’t constantly started for the London club too and only has two goals to his name from 28 Premier League games.

The 18-year-old has been linked with Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain, with the Mirror reporting that his price-tag could be around the £50million mark.

The report adds that Sessegnon wants to remain in London and that should boost our hopes of signing him.

The price-tag might seem excessive for a player yet to do well in the Premier League, however, Sessegnon is a talent and Daniel Levy must break the bank and sign him for Spurs.

A quality player that needs to take the next step

Sessegnon tore through Championship defences last season but hasn’t been able to do the same this time around.

The Englishman has shown glimpses of his quality and needs to work under a manager that has the experience of getting the best out of young players.

Mauricio Pochettino fits that bill and signing Sessegnon would also increase competition out wide and in the left-back slot.

Ben Davies and Danny Rose have done well in patches over the past two seasons, and the inclusion of a young and talented player could see all three do better in the coming campaign.

Additionally, Sessegnon could play in the attack too and feature as a pacey winger to help Harry Kane score more goals.

The youngster could follow the footsteps of Gareth Bale as the Welshman started off as a left-back and took the league by storm in his final season at White Hart Lane as one of the best attackers in the game.

Sessegnon has shown promise as he was a part of the PFA Team of the Year last season.

The Englishman could do with a move to a bigger club, and it will be interesting to see if we push to get him in the summer.
