Spurs transfer news: Ben Davies wants Gareth Bale at Tottenham
Tottenham defender Ben Davies wouldn’t mind having Gareth Bale back at Tottenham but isn’t sure if the deal will take place.
The Welsh attacker left Tottenham in 2013 for a fee of £85million (h/t Mirror) but has had his struggles at Real Madrid.
Bale is playing under his third manager this season and Davies told the Mirror that his Welsh teammate has been unduly criticised:
“He’s come under a bit of flak at Madrid recently, but for Wales he’s always been brilliant.
“I’m always going to say it’s unfair, he is one of the best players in the world, we see it every day in training.”
The Tottenham defender would want to see Bale back at the club, but didn’t know if the deal would take place:
“I’d definitely have him at Tottenham. But I don’t know how likely that is.”
Bale missing the magic at Madrid
The Welshman helped Madrid win the Champions League last season with a wonderful performance against Liverpool.
The former Tottenham star scored one of the goals of the tournament against the Reds, but has found them hard to come by this season.
Bale has 11 goals for the Madrid giants in all competitions this season and has started 22 games in all competitions.
Madrid are out of the Champions League and Copa del Rey, and it would be difficult for them to lift the La Liga title.
