Latest Spurs news: Louis van Gaal claims joining Man United could have been the wrong decision
Louis van Gaal had a memorable time at Manchester United for his antics and remarkable outbursts.
The Dutch manager is a legend in the football circuit and had his run-ins with reporters and referees, such as him “diving” in front of fourth official Mike Dean during a game.
However, the Dutch manager retired from the game a week ago and gave an interview to the BBC regarding his time at Old Trafford.
Van Gaal was replaced by Manchester United with Jose Mourinho just minutes after leading them to the FA Cup, and the Dutch manager could have joined Tottenham instead of the Red Devils.
“Was it the wrong choice?”
Van Gaal claimed that Tottenham were better than picking Manchester United due to the age of the sides. The former Barcelona man further claimed this could have been a mistake, but he followed his heart (h/t BBC):
“Tottenham were a better selection because Manchester United were an old team and I knew I would have to transform them.
“Was it the wrong choice? Maybe, but I follow my heart. I worked at the number one team in the Netherlands, Germany, Spain and now also in England.”
The former Ajax manager also had a go at his treatment by Ed Woodward and claimed winning the FA Cup was his greatest achievement despite the media having a “noose” around his neck.
Things didn’t work out badly for us with Van Gaal’s snub as Tottenham signed Mauricio Pochettino.
The Argentine has transformed the club into a top-four side, and we are getting better with each season under the former Southampton manager.

The only thing missing is a trophy from the cabinet, and hopefully, Pochettino achieves that soon at our new stadium.
