Latest Spurs news: Tottenham want to host Super Bowl at the new stadium
The Sun reports that Tottenham are “desperate” to host the Super Bowl in our new stadium.
Spurs are to play their first Premier League game against Crystal Palace on 3 April and will end their nearly two-year stay at Wembley too.
Tottenham have already played an U18 game there and will play a legend clash this weekend.
The report claims that the club wants the venue to be the home of the NFL’s first franchise outside of the United States.
Two NFL games will be played at our new home later this year while two more will be played for each of the next 10 years, according to the report.
A stadium built for the NFL
The new Tottenham stadium also featured an artificial pitch under the normal surface for NFL games.
The report adds that NFL authorities invested £50m into the new stadium for separate NFL changing rooms.
Tottenham’s head of business development, Aidan Mullally further spoke about the NFL when building the stadium and claimed this could be the home for the sport outside the US (h/t Sun):
“The anchor tenant is Tottenham Hotspur but this is designed to be a permanent home for the NFL outside the US.”
