Spurs transfer news: Duncan Castles claims Tottenham are keeping tabs on Barcelona’s Malcom

Journalist Duncan Castles claims that Barcelona want to sell Malcom in the summer after just one season at the Nou Camp.

The Brazilian joined from Bordeaux in the summer for a £46m fee (h/t Daily Star), however, the 22-year-old has found starts and goals hard to come by.

Castles believes there could be a bidding war for the attacker with Tottenham, Arsenal and Manchester United all interested.

The journalist was speaking on the Transfer Window podcast and claimed that Malcom and Philippe Coutinho were on the transfer list for the Catalans. Castles added that Malcom would appeal to many Premier League clubs (h/t Daily Star):

“Manchester United obviously looked at him before he moved to Barcelona, Arsenal have been very keen on him, I believe Tottenham Hotspur have an interest in him too, although not sure he fits into the recruitment policy Tottenham have going into next season.”

Failing to produce the goods

The 22-year-old was expected to achieve great things at the Catalans but only has three goals to his name in all competitions this season.

The winger has four starts for the team this season and has been inconsistent in the games he has played.

Tottenham could do with more attacking options, especially out wide, however, Malcom might be a bit of a risk given his lack of performances at Barcelona.

The 22-year-old has time on his side and could do well at another club. He was excellent in the previous season with Bordeaux as he smashed in 12 goals and provided seven assists from 35 Ligue 1 games.
