Spurs opinion: Tottenham should avoid signing Ivan Perisic at all costs
Tottenham made history by becoming the first club not to sign a player in two consecutive transfer windows.
That didn’t seem to affect us early on as they were in the running for the Premier League crown until we lost our way in the last two months or so.
Of course, we were also hampered with injuries to Harry Kane and Dele Alli, and Son Heung-min went off for the Asian Cup.
The team did alright with Fernando Llorente leading the line until Son returned, but we have been a little thin on quality attacking options in certain patches of the season.
Tottenham should be busy in the summer, with Daniel Levy confirming the club will spend and have been linked with Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic.
The Croatian star took his country to the finals of the tournament, and Tuttomercatoweb (h/t Football.london) claims Spurs will bid €25m. The Serie A giants want €35m for the winger, who was also linked with Manchester United.
Perisic might be an extremely experienced player, but Tottenham need to be wary of not making a blunder in the summer window.
Youth is the key for Spurs
Mauricio Pochettino has worked extremely well with young players, and that is the route we should try to follow in the summer.
Perisic is 30 at the moment, and spending close to €35m (the fee that Inter want) on the Croatian would be a major risk.
The winger hasn’t played any minutes in the Premier League and he could turn out to be another Kevin Wimmer or Georges-Kevin Nkoudou.
Lest we forget, Roberto Soldado was also a failure while Vincent Janssen has struggled to gain minutes under the Argentine manager.
Perisic hasn’t been great for Inter this season with only five goals in all competitions this season.
Tottenham need to add more quality on the wing with Lucas Moura and Erik Lamela having inconsistent seasons too.
Jarrod Bowen is one attacker linked with the club, and he could be a better bet for Tottenham’s plans when compared with Perisic.
The Hull City attacker is younger, is doing well in a tough Championship and has the potential to get even better under Pochettino.

Spurs have some tough decisions to make in the summer and hopefully, they get the right signings into the club for the new season.
