Spurs transfer news: Tottenham “renew” interest in Werder Bremen striker Max Kruse

Sky Germany (h/t talkSport) claims that Tottenham are interested in 31-year-old German striker Max Kruse.

The forward is out of contract at the end of the campaign, and the report adds that he is stalling on a new deal with the Bundesliga club.

Kruse has done reasonably well with Bremen having scored eight goals and providing seven assists from 26 Bundesliga games.

The report claims that Spurs are looking for a Fernando Llorente replacement, as the Spaniard is linked with an exit from the club.

The former Athletic Bilbao striker has done a decent job in Harry Kane’s absence with seven goals in all competitions this season.

Inter Milan are also interested in the 31-year-old and the report adds that Kruse was linked with a move to Spurs in 2015 but ended up joining Wolfsburg.

Kruse’s age is a problem as he has a few years of quality football left in him. However, Spurs would not have to break the bank to sign the German striker next season.

The forward would be cover for Harry Kane and his starts would be limited should he join. The 31-year-old can play on either side of the attack or just behind the main striker too, which could work in our playing style.

Tottenham haven’t made any additions to the side in the last two transfer windows, but things should change in the summer.
