Spurs transfer news: Tottenham interested in Everton defender Michael Keane
The Daily Mail reports that Tottenham and Arsenal could be set for a summer battle for Everton defender Michael Keane.
The report adds that both clubs watched the 26-year-old defender during Everton’s 2-0 win over West Ham United.
Keane has been in decent form recently and even earned a place in the England team that defeated Montenegro 5-1, with the centre-back scoring a goal too.
The Englishman started his career at Manchester United but made his name at Burnley. Everton snapped him up in 2017, and the report claims that the Toffees could demand up to £50million for the 26-year-old.
Keane has played 29 Premier League games for the Toffees this season and averages 1.2 tackles, 1.4 interceptions and 5.6 clearances.
Spurs in the market for a centre-back
The report adds that Tottenham are expected to be in the market for a centre-back as there are doubts regarding the futures of Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen.
The pair will have just one year left of their deals after the end of the season, and Alderweireld has a £25million release clause that comes into effect in the summer (h/t Daily Mail).
Keane has been impressive for Everton in certain games this season, however, the asking price for the 26-year-old does seem a little steep.

Tottenham have to make some additions to the side but have two quality young defenders in Davinson Sanchez and Juan Foyth.
