Spurs news: Danny Rose can’t wait to be done with football and frustrated over racism inaction
Tottenham left-back Danny Rose has claimed that he can’t wait to see the “back of football” and was not happy with the inaction regarding racism from the fans, reports the BBC.
The English defender was subject to racist chants during the Euro 2020 qualifier against Montenegro and the BBC adds that UEFA have launched an investigation regarding the incident.
However, Rose did not believe a huge punishment would be coming by the governing body (h/t BBC):
“When countries get fined what I probably spend on a night out in London what do you expect?”
Rose has been targetting before
Rose added that he was subject to similar abuse in 2012 during an U21 match in Serbia and sees himself leave the game in a few years:
“How I programme myself is that I think I’ve got five or six more years left in football, and I just can’t wait to see the back of it.”
The Englishman added that he just goes on with the game given how things are at the moment, and highlighted there was too much politics in football.
“There is so much politics in football. I can’t wait to see the back of it.”
The latest incident surrounds Moise Kean on Juventus as the Italian forward was racially targeted by the Cagliari fans.
Leonardo Bonucci came out with a questionable comment suggesting that Kean was partly to blame for the incident, but the defender was rightly criticised for his comments.
Rose found many supporters regarding his comments with several Tottenham fans backing him.
Disqusted that Danny Rose can’t wait to retire from football because of ignorant people who think it is ok to shout racial epithets at him and others. Football is the world’s game and everybody is welcome. #IStandWithDannyRose #NoRoomForRacism #COYS #THFC

Danny Danny Rose Danny Danny Rose This is heartbreaking to read but so so true. Love the way he has used Poch’s touchline ban as an example of punishment in comparison to racism #COYS #KickItOut

It’s a massive shame that Rose feels the way he does about football because he clearly loves playing. But it’s understandable given all the crap he’s experienced.
