Spurs news: Tottenham made world-record profit last season beating Liverpool
The BBC reports that Tottenham made a world-record profit of £113m post tax last season.
The report adds that this beats Liverpool’s profit of £106m shared earlier in the year. The BBC further reports that Tottenham’s income rose to £380m from £310m due to player sales, reaching the knockout stages of the Champions League and increased attendances at Wembley.
Match day revenue from the Premier League rose from £19m to £42.6m, according to the report, and although we moved into a new stadium, the cost of the structure was met mostly via loans.
The financial results did show how big a gap there is between us and some of the other Premier League clubs.
Spurs spent £147m in player wages in the previous season while Arsenal spent £240m on wages alone (h/t BBC).
Tottenham celebrate win at new stadium
Although the stadium costs £1b (h/t BBC), our new home is one of the best in the world.
The first game at the new ground was against Crystal Palace and was easily won by the home side 2-0.
Son Heung-min got the first goal with a deflected shot in the second half before Christian Eriksen wrapped up the three points in the 80th minute.
