Spurs news: Tottenham warn fans against standing ahead of Manchester City clash
The Express reports that Tottenham have told fans to sit during their Champions League quarter-final against Manchester City or face a ban from the new stadium.
The report claims that more than 17,500 supporters stood in the South stand of the new ground as Spurs defeated Crystal Palace 2-0.
The club sent an email to fans reminding them of their duties (h/t Express):
”Fans are reminded that, as has always been the position in Premier League and UEFA Champions League stadia, standing during matches is against ground regulations.
“The offence is punishable by stadium bans and clubs are at risk of having capacities reduced in certain areas of the stadium if persistent standing is not dealt with.”
The email further asked fans to cooperate with stewards and to help create an enjoyable match-day experience for the other fans.
Safe standing ready stadium
The report adds that the new Tottenham stadium has future-proofed the South stand and also the away end for safe standing should it be introduced in the coming years.
Borussia Dortmund already provides safe standing for the 25,000 fans in its South stand which is called as the Yellow Wall.
Tottenham’s stadium is one of the best in the world and we started our time in the new home with an easy win over Palace.
City will be a different task and hopefully, the fans can charge up the players for a memorable win on Tuesday.
