Latest Spurs news: Tottenham have a great record this season without Harry Kane

Harry Kane picked up an ankle injury in the 1-0 win over Manchester City in the Champions League.

The England captain was hurt in a tackle with Fabian Delph and a release from the club could not confirm when the striker would return.

The 25-year-old is one of the best in the world and not having him would come as a big blow for the remainder of the season.

Mauricio Pochettino wasn’t upbeat about Kane’s return and claimed the Englishman could be out for the season too (h/t BBC).

Although it doesn’t look good for Spurs, Football.london did some searching and found some stats that give us some hope for the remainder of the campaign.

No Kane, no problem

Kane was out for close to two months in early 2019 and we also had Dele Alli missing for a while with a hamstring problem.

Tottenham played 35 games with Kane starting (Champions League and Premier League) and have a winning percentage of 57.1% and a losing percentage of 34.2% (h/t Football.london).

The report adds that Spurs have won all five games without Kane, however, some of the teams we faced during this period weren’t the toughest.

Leicester City, Newcastle United, Watford, Fulham and Borussia Dortmund were the five teams we beat without Kane.

Mauricio Pochettino has worked on his tactics to work with what he has at hand, and it should be no different in the coming weeks.

Spurs have two tough games against Manchester City after their tie against Huddersfield. Tottenham are in a battle to finish in the top four and have a one-goal advantage in the Champions League quarter-finals against City too.

Pochettino has shown his magic earlier in the season when we won without Kane, and he needs to do the same in the coming weeks.
