Spurs news: Mauricio Pochettino is hopeful that Dele Alli can play against Manchester City
Mauricio Pochettino was speaking ahead of the clash against Huddersfield and gave an update on Dele Alli’s fractured hand.
The Englishman was in pain as he was subbed in the 1-0 win over Manchester City in the Champions League, and the manager added that the Huddersfield clash could be too early for Alli to play (h/t Football.london):
“We need to asses him this afternoon and tomorrow and take the decision. I’m not too optimistic. He broke hand in two parts.”
The Argentine added that the fracture is still painful and Alli had seen a specialist.
Alli could be back for Champions League clash
A release from the club added that the medical team are looking at ways of getting Alli to play during the final games of the season.
Pochettino was also hopeful of seeing the 23-year-old for the second leg Champions League quarter-final against City:
“I’m not optimistic about tomorrow, I am more optimistic he will be available for Man City in the second leg. We’ll see and we’ll take decision that is best for everyone.”
Tottenham have a one-goal advantage ahead of the Champions League clash, and we need Alli to be back for that game.
We should have enough in the tank to beat Huddersfield, despite not having Harry Kane too.
