Spurs transfer news: Tottenham keeping tabs on Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomez
The Daily Mail reports that Tottenham are interested in Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomez as they look for Harry Kane cover.
The report adds that the Premier League side see the 22-year-old as the perfect cover for Kane and Spanish striker Fernando Llorente.
Kane is out of action at the moment, having suffered ankle ligament damage in the 1-0 win over Manchester City in the Champions League.
The report adds that the 22-year-old Uruguayan was also a target for West Ham in the winter window.
The Spanish side have placed a £43.5million release clause in Gomez’s contract but are expected to receive lower offers for the forward, according to the Daily Mail.
Gomez doing the magic for Vigo
Gomez bagged 17 goals for Vigo last season in the league and has 11 to his name this time around. The 22-year-old plays as a central striker and the report adds that Tottenham striker Vincent Janssen is expected to leave in the summer.
The Dutch striker has struggled since joining the club and hasn’t made an appearance for Mauricio Pochettino’s side this season.
Kane had been in decent form before injuring his ankle in the win over City. Spurs have two more games against City coming up in the coming week and we could make it to the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Spurs have to find quality cover for Kane as the Englishman, unfortunately, has picked up two ankle ligament injuries this season. It will be interesting to see how things work out for us in the summer.
