Spurs transfer news: Mauricio Pochettino makes transfer plans heard
Tottenham chief Mauricio Pochettino has suggested that signings needs to be made in the summer if our club are to reach the next level.
Speaking ahead of the second-leg against Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-finals, our gaffer explained: “It is going to be tough to find a way to be on the same level (as Real Madrid and Barcelona). There is a lot of work to be on the level we want in the future. If your expectation is to win the league, maybe you need to sign players or have a different budget.” (h/t the Daily Mail)
Spurs have been forced to keep their spending to a minimum in recent transfer windows. In fact, we haven’t signed a player since bringing in Lucas Moura from Paris Saint-Germain in January 2018.
Thus, the aforementioned words were a clear message to Chairman Daniel Levy, as we enter the final stretch of games in the Premier League.
Tottenham need new players
Tottenham need new faces in the summer even though Pochettino has done an excellent job without signing a single player in the past two transfer windows.
It’s important for Pochettino to invest in key areas of the pitch to build a team that is truly capable of challenging for the title next season. One area our manager should prioritise over others is the midfield, with Mousa Dembele already being sold.

Bringing in the right players at the right price will be important in the summer as our club could lack funds to spend after investing massively in the new stadium. And if Pochettino manages to get the players he wants at his disposal then next season could turn out to be very exciting for us.
