The Telegraph adds that the Dane’s contract is up at the end of next season and Spurs could consider selling him in the summer or lose him on a free in 2020.
Pochettino spoke after the game and stated that Eriksen is special (h/t Telegraph):
“It is a very special situation.
“Christian is a special person. We are all special, different. We need to understand that. The timing for him or for the club to be agreeing something is maybe different to another player.”
Pochettino wants Eriksen to stay
The Argentine claimed that there is time to talk about a new deal and added he wants the Dane to remain at Tottenham.
“I hope and I wish that Christian can be with us in the future. I think Christian and us, we are so open to talk and we will see what happens. It is so close, the end of the season, and [there will be] a lot of time to talk after.”

The 27-year-old would be difficult to replace without spending a huge sum, and hopefully, we can convince the Dane to sign a new deal soon.
