Latest Spurs news: Mauricio Pochettino claims Vincent Janssen could have a future at Tottenham
One of the surprises from our win over Brighton was seeing Vincent Janssen get some minutes on the pitch.
The Dutch striker has not been part of our plans for a while but injuries to other players opened the door for him to return to the first-team.
The 24-year-old has been injured for much of the current season and was away on loan in the previous campaign.
Football.london reports that the Dutch striker was set to leave the club in the summer but remained at Tottenham, despite Mauricio Pochettino telling that Janssen would not be part of our plans.
However, the Argentine has sought to clear the air surrounding the Dutchman and was asked if the striker could remain at the club (h/t Football.london):
“Why not? I accept people can make mistakes and giving second chances is an important thing.”
Pochettino did not expand upon what the mistakes were and was willing to play Janssen in our Premier League clashes.
A chance at redemption?
The 24-year-old is not registered for the Champions League and Pochettino added that Janssen was only playing in the team because he could provide something to the side.
Harry Kane is out injured while Son Heung-min and Fernando Llorente have done well in the absence of the Englishman.
Janssen could still get to play the remaining Premier League games, and this is his opportunity to prove his quality.

The 24-year-old was brilliant in the Eredivisie and hopefully, he finds the back of the net and finishes the campaign on a high.
