Latest Spurs news: Fernando Llorente warns team against repeating West Ham performance against Ajax
Fernando Llorente has warned his Tottenham teammates not to repeat their performance from the weekend against Ajax.
Spurs were handed their first loss at the new stadium as Michail Antonio scored the only goal of the game for West Ham.
The loss didn’t hurt our chances of finishing third as Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal failed to win at the weekend.
The Hammers had decent chances to score in the second half but Tottenham looked flat and bereft of ideas after the opening minutes.
The Spaniard also questioned the mentality of the team which faced West Ham (h/t Guardian):
“This kind of game [the semi-final] doesn’t need to be prepared for because the mentality of all the players will be different.
“But I don’t think I can understand why the mentality of the team wasn’t ready to play against West Ham. I don’t know [why] but I told you, if we play like that against Ajax then for sure we will lose.”
Llorente came on in the second half as Spurs searched for the equaliser and it will be interesting to see how we line up to face Ajax on Tuesday.
Attacking options limited for Spurs
Tottenham are without the injured Harry Kane, and Son Heung-min is suspended for the first leg against Ajax.
Mauricio Pochettino has to shuffle his pack and Llorente could be on the bench, according to the Guardian.
The Spaniard had a huge role in our aggregate win over Manchester City as he scored the all-important third goal at the Etihad.

Spurs were brilliant across both ties against the Premier League leaders, and we need to play in a similar fashion to get the better of Ajax.
