Latest Spurs news: Mauricio Pochettino provides positive update on Harry Kane

Mauricio Pochettino spoke ahead of the Champions League semi-final first leg against Ajax.

The Argentine was quizzed on several topics and the manager gave an update on injured star Harry Kane.

The English forward injured his ankle in the quarter-final first-leg against Manchester City. Pochettino hoped that the striker would return for the Champions League final (h/t Sun) should we reach it, and claimed Kane had started running too (h/t Football.london):

“He’s doing well. He’s working and starting to run a bit inside. His rehab is so good but we cannot create any idea that we maybe cannot achieve. The most important thing is that he is in a good place and we’ll see what happens.”

The manager then turned to his assistant, Jesus Perez, and asked if Kane could return for the second leg:

“(Will he be available for the second leg? Turns to Jesus) Will he? No chance? Oh Jesus says no chance.”

Kane on the road to recovery

The forward shared an image on Instagram where he was seen feeding some ducks without any protection on his injured ankle.

Kane has a history of returning early from big injuries and hopefully, he comes back stronger than ever.

The Englishman suffered a similar ankle injury against Manchester United earlier in the season but came back to the side.

Tottenham cannot think too far ahead as they face a difficult Ajax side in the Champions League semi-finals.
