Spurs transfer news: Roy Hodgson believes Wilfried Zaha will leave for a large transfer bid
Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson believes a large transfer bid for Wilfried Zaha could lead to his sale. The Ivorian attacker recently spoke with the Daily Mail and claimed he wants to play Champions League football.
Tottenham have been linked with the winger, however, the Daily Star reports that Spurs are not looking to pay a large fee for the 26-year-old.
The Daily Mail reports that Palace are looking at £80m for Zaha and there is little Hodgson could do to keep the star if a similar bid came (h/t Daily Mail):
“I’m not ruling out the fact that something like that could come up when we sit down – it would be wrong to do that.”
The Englishman added that the club doesn’t want to sell Zaha but they have to be realistic about the situation too.
Hodgson claimed that he didn’t have the power to make decisions if the management decided to let go of the star (h/t Daily Mail):
“If the bids don’t come to me any more, the bids come through the chairman himself (Steve Parish) or through (sporting director) Doug Freedman, if one day they call me in and say ‘Look, this is the situation’, I shall be in their hands basically.
“I don’t have the power to veto any decisions of that nature.”
Zaha is one of the best from outside the top six
It would be difficult to find another player as good as Zaha outside the top six in the Premier League. The Ivorian has been excellent for Palace over the years and has 9 goals and 3 assists to his name this season.
Zaha has helped the Eagles avoid relegation and it is only right for them to want a huge amount for the 26-year-old.

Spurs should spend in the summer window after not buying any players this season, and it will be interesting to see who Zaha plays for in the upcoming campaign.
