Latest Spurs news: Lucas Moura reminds Tottenham of spirit against Manchester City ahead of Ajax clash
Lucas Moura has reminded Tottenham of their performance against Manchester City as they play Ajax in the return leg next week.
Spurs were a little flat in the Champions League semi-final first leg against the Dutch side and lost at their new stadium 1-0.
The Brazilian claimed that voices were raised in the Tottenham dressing room at half-time, which is why they played better in the second half (h/t Express).
The attacker believes that things could happen in the second leg and wants Spurs to play as they did against Manchester City.
Tottenham had a 1-0 lead going into the second leg against City, and scored thrice at the Etihad to qualify on the away goals rule:
“Look at when we played Manchester City in the second game. In 20 minutes there were five goals. Who could believe that? No-one,” Moura was quoted by the Express.
“The spirit against City was amazing, was unbelievable, and we need to play like that.
“We went there and played against City and we did a very good game. We were strong mentally because it’s important. And now we need to do the same.”
Moura added that he trusted his mates and wanted the team to score loads of goals to make it into the final.
Tottenham have the capability to turn things around
Ajax have been the surprise package of the Champions League this season, however, we can do a job on them if we play to our strengths.
Spurs are light on fit first-team players and Harry Winks will miss the clash after undergoing groin surgery.
Son Heung-min was absent from the first leg but the South Korean will be back after serving his one-match suspension.
