Spurs transfer news: Napoli will not meet Tottenham’s asking price for Kieran Trippier

Napoli are out of the race to sign England defender Kieran Trippier, according to CalcioNapoli24 (h/t Football.london).

The right-back has struggled for form this season and the report claims that he is attracting interest from several clubs including Manchester United.

The Italian giants bid €15m for Trippier, however, the report claims that Tottenham are looking at €35m for the former Burnley defender.

The report claims that Napoli will not meet the asking price and Trippier will not be joining them.

Tottenham need an upgrade in the right-back position

Trippier has been below average this season and has made several mistakes at the back.

The English defender came back from a great World Cup with the Three Lions, but he has not been able to carry his form into the season.

Serge Aurier hasn’t impressed and has spent a lot of time on the treatment table. Kyle Walker-Peters hasn’t been played regularly by Mauricio Pochettino, and we need to make some moves in the summer window.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka has been linked with a move to Spurs while Max Aarons is another young English talent we are interested in (h/t Sun).

Both players are younger than Trippier and have the potential to improve under Pochettino.

Tottenham need to bring in players in the summer as our squad has been hit hard by injuries to several players.

We still are third in the Premier League and need to overturn a 1-0 deficit against Ajax to reach the Champions League final.
