Spurs transfer news: Tottenham and Juventus to battle for Adrien Rabiot’s signature
Calciomercato reports that Tottenham and Juventus will fight it out for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot.
The 24-year-old hasn’t played for his club since December and is set to leave the French giants on a free at the end of the season.
The report adds that PSG have offered Rabiot several deals but the Frenchman will not renew with the side.
Barcelona and Real Madrid have also backed out of the race for the midfielder, and the report claims a verbal agreement with the Catalans did not work out.
Calciomercato adds that Barcelona ended up signing Frenkie de Jong from Ajax while Real are looking at other Premier League targets under Zinedine Zidane.
Champions League a requirement for Rabiot
The report adds that Juventus and Tottenham are still interested in the 24-year-old, and Rabiot’s mother wants the midfielder to play in the Champions League next season.
Rabiot is extremely talented and would make a quality addition to the Spurs team. Tottenham are a little light when it comes to midfielders and even sold Mousa Dembele in the January window.
The club even spoke with the French midfielder in the winter transfer window, according to the report, but the deal could not be completed as the only English club Rabiot wanted to join was Liverpool.
The report further claims that Spurs are willing to break their wage structure to capture the 24-year-old.
Rabiot would be a fantastic signing on a free and could develop further under Mauricio Pochettino.
