Spurs transfer news: Tottenham interested in Portuguese youngster Diogo Queiros

The Daily Mail reports that Tottenham are interested in Porto’s young defender Diogo Queiros.

The 20-year-old Portuguese defender has mostly played for the B team of Porto and joined the youth team at the age of 11.

The youngster can play as a right-back too and has made 23 appearances for the Portuguese giants this season with one goal to his name.

Porto value Queiros highly

Tottenham aren’t the first Premier League club interested in Queiros, as the Guardian reports that Bournemouth were also keen on the defender.

Porto have sold several players for large sums in the past, and the Guardian adds that Queiros has a contract with the club till 2021.

The report added that the 20-year-old has a release clause of €25m and Porto were looking to increase that and ward off suitors.

Queiros has had a brilliant time with the Portugal youth teams. The defender won the U17 and U19 Euros with his national side and was even included in the U19 team of the tournament in 2017.

The 20-year-old also has won the UEFA Youth League and Premier League International Club with his club.

Tottenham have signed young defenders under Pochettino in the past

Queiros could be a quality signing for Tottenham and the club have signed young defenders under Mauricio Pochettino.

Juan Foyth and Davinson Sanchez are two examples of centre-backs joining young and making it into the first-team.
