Latest Spurs news: Rose wants to go out with Champions League glory
Danny Rose has claimed that winning the Champions League would be the best present if he is to leave Tottenham next season.
The English left-back helped Spurs mount a fantastic comeback against Ajax on Wednesday in the Champions League.
Spurs were trailing 3-0 on aggregate before a Lucas Moura hat-trick sent us through to the final.
The third goal for the Brazilian came with the last kick of the game, and there were some incredible celebrates after the final whistle.
The Sun claims that Rose is one of several players linked with a move away from Spurs, and the left-back wants to leave the club on a high (h/t Sun):
“I keep seeing my name and that I’m being sold.
“So if that is the case and it is going to be my last game for Spurs, I’m hoping to go out with a bang and lift a trophy.”
An up and down season for Spurs
Rose acknowledged that it had been a difficult season for Spurs and was relieved to make it to the Champions League final, the first for the club.
Tottenham haven’t done well in the Premier League but should finish in the top four, however, the Champions League run has been incredible.
The 28-year-old has been great in recent weeks and needs to be at his best when we face Liverpool on 1 June.
The Reds have been excellent throughout the season and beat us twice in the league, but Rose believes we have a fighting chance in a one-off game:
“It’s 50/50, a one-off game. They’re a great team, they’ve had a great season and they might be Premier League champions.
“It’s going to be a difficult game and if we defend how we did against Ajax we’re not going to win.”
Spurs weren’t great in the first leg against Ajax but turned things around in the second half on Wednesday.
