Latest Spurs news: Harry Kane’s half-time speech played role in Ajax turnaround
The Telegraph reports that Harry Kane’s half-time speech helped Tottenham turnaround the 2-0 deficit against Ajax in the Champions League semi-final.
Spurs were trailing 3-0 on aggregate but a hat-trick from Lucas Moura sent us through to the finals of the tournament.
The Brazilian’s final strike came in stoppage-time and Tottenham celebrated wildly after the final whistle.
Kane ran onto the pitch, despite continuing his rehabilitation from ankle ligament damage.
The report adds that Kane asked the Spurs team “Is this how we want to be remembered?” as they were heading for the exit.
Leading even when not playing
The England captain also asked if the players wanted another season of disappointment, according to the report.
Kane reminded the Spurs players about Liverpool’s effort 24 hours earlier and how they performed against Manchester City over the two legs (h/t Telegraph).
The pep talk seemed to work well as Spurs were a different beast in the second half.
Kane’s availability for the final is still to be seen. The Englishman should start training on grass next week, and the report claims he could be doing some drills with a football by next weekend.

Tottenham have to be a little careful with Kane’s return. The striker already has had two serious injuries this season, and Spurs cannot afford to have him pick up another problem.
