Spurs transfer news: Tottenham hold discussion with Julian Brandt’s father
SportBild (h/t Mirror) claims that Tottenham are leading Liverpool in the race to sign Bayer Leverkusen star Julian Brandt.
The German international has been excellent for the Bundesliga side this season, and the report claims that Brandt will leave in the summer irrespective of his club’s Champions League prospects.
The 23-year-old has a release clause of just £21million despite having two years left on his deal, and the report claims that Spurs are speaking with the player’s father.
Jurgen Klopp wanted to sign the German winger in 2017 before moving for Mohamed Salah, and the report adds that the Leverkusen star is being linked with the Reds again.
There is a lot of interest in Brandt, with Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid also holding talks, according to the report.
Spurs need to make some moves in the summer
The report claims that Christian Eriksen’s future is still uncertain with Real Madrid interested in the Danish midfielder.
Losing Eriksen would be a blow but Brandt could be a smart signing for Spurs. The German has the potential to improve further and can be the creative force in the midfield.
Brandt’s best games have come in the wide positions and the German has formed a lethal partnership with Kai Havertz and Leon Bailey at Leverkusen.
