Spurs transfer news: Marc Overmars doesn’t want to sell Donny van de Beek in the summer
Donny van de Beek has been one of the stars for Ajax this season. The 22-year-old helped the Dutch team to another Eredivisie title and was instrumental in their Champions League run.
Ajax faced Spurs for a place in the finals but an epic Lucas Moura hat-trick denied the Dutch giants a trip to Madrid.
The midfielder even scored the winner against Spurs in the first leg of the semi-final and Calciomercato claims that Tottenham are interested in the Dutchman.
However, Marc Overmars, the Ajax director of football, doesn’t want to part with Van de Beek.
Speaking to De Telegraaf, the former Barcelona star claimed the club want to reward the midfielder for his performances (h/t Calciomercato):
“He has really improved as a footballer and we don’t want to lose him. He has been improving and we want to reward him for this.”
The youngster has also been linked with a move to Juventus (h/t Calciomercato) and Ajax have already lost one star. Frenkie de Jong has joined Barcelona after a wonderful campaign, and it is to be seen which players could leave the Dutch team.
Spurs need another midfielder coming in
Tottenham could do with a midfielder in the summer window as we are thin on senior players for the positions.
Mousa Dembele was sold in the winter window while Victor Wanyama and Harry Winks have had their injury problems in recent seasons.
Van de Beek would be a great addition to the side and found the back of the net 16 times for Ajax this season.
