Latest Spurs news: Gary Lineker wants Spurs to spend if they want to keep Pochettino
Former Tottenham striker Gary Lineker wants the club to spend in the summer to keep hold of Mauricio Pochettino.
The Argentine manager has done a fantastic job of taking us to the Champions League final this season, and we have finished in the Champions League spots regularly under the former Espanyol man.
Football.london adds that Pochettino has been linked with a move to Juventus after the Serie A giants confirmed Max Allegri’s departure at the end of the season.
Lineker told the Times that he met Pochettino recently and lauded the Argentine’s managerial nous but wanted Spurs to spend (h/t Football.london):
“He’s a very engaging character, clearly massively knowledgeable, insightful on the game, and he’s clearly one of the best managers or coaches in world football.
“But they do need investment, he said that to me himself. And he needs to be backed. I suspect, if he’s not backed, they’ll probably find it quite difficult to keep hold of him. So it really is a seminal moment for Tottenham.”
Lineker added that Spurs’ spending has been hampered due to the new stadium, and it is to be seen if they grow further and make Champions League finals a regular occurrence.
A difficult summer coming up for Spurs
Pochettino is one of the best in the world and we need to do everything to keep hold of the Argentine. Taking this Spurs team to the Champions League final with so many injuries is a testament to his ability.
The manager has improved several players during his time at the club, and we could end the season as Champions League winners.

Lineker is right in suggesting that we need to spend in the summer and it will be interesting to see how things go once we finish the campaign.
