Latest Spurs news: Tottenham seek safety certificate for stadium ahead of next season

The Sun reports that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has ripped into the stadium workers at the new Tottenham stadium.

The report claims that work is going on at the new ground as we seek a full safety certificate.

The Sun adds that the new stadium was allowed to open last season as Haringey Council made some exceptions and provided clearance to play games only for this campaign.

Tottenham have some electrical and safety system work to be done and the report adds that Daniel Levy held a meeting with the contractors pressuring them to complete all pending jobs as quickly as possible.

Should the club not be able to get a full permit, the team would have to apply on an event to event basis to host large crowds at the new ground.

The report claims that Levy does not want any workers in the stadium when inspectors visit our ground, else the safety certificate will not be provided.

No worries for Spurs

Tottenham have insisted there is nothing to fear regarding the safety certificate and these issues are normal for any large constructions that are opened, according to the report.

Spurs’ new stadium inauguration was delayed several times but we were able to move into it in this campaign.

We have already seen some epic games at the new ground with the 1-0 win over Manchester City in the Champions League, and we could win the title on 1 June should we defeat Liverpool at the Wanda Metropolitano.
