Spurs transfer news: Tottenham preparing a £40million bid for Nicolo Zaniolo

The Mirror (h/t Football.london) reports that Tottenham are preparing a £40million bid for AS Roma teenager Nicolo Zaniolo.

The 19-year-old has been one of the brightest players in the Serie A this season. Zaniolo scored six times for the Italian club while he also bagged a couple of assists during the campaign.

The attacking midfielder also represented the Italian national side in their Euro 2020 qualifiers this season.

The report adds that the Serie A club will receive several offers for their starlet. Zaniolo can play out wide or as a central attacking midfielder and is capable of playing as the central striker.

Zaniolo not looking to leave Roma

The 19-year-old recently said that he doesn’t want to leave the club and that he sees his future there, but added there could be talks at the end of the campaign (h/t Football.london):

“I still have four years left on my contract, and I am happy here. I see my future at Roma, but my agent will talk to the club at the end of the season.”

Roma aren’t guaranteed a Champions League spot and could miss out should results not go their way.

Tottenham could do with another attacker midfielder joining and Zaniolo seems to have the potential to develop further under Mauricio Pochettino.
