Spurs transfer news: Tottenham ready to bid for Benfica starlet Jota

Portuguese outlet Record (h/t Football.london) reports that Tottenham are interested in Benfica youngster Jota.

The 20-year-old plays for the Benfica B side and has scored eight goals in 19 league appearances for the team this season.

The report adds that the Portuguese winger has a €30million release clause in his contract and Tottenham are ready to bid for the 20-year-old.

Spurs have already made “a few approaches” for the winger, according to the report, and we need to make some signings in the summer.

An interesting summer awaits for Spurs

Jota could be a smart signing given that he is young and has the potential to improve further under Mauricio Pochettino.

The Argentine manager has done a great job with young talent at Southampton and Spurs, and Jota could be another player following that trajectory.

Spurs don’t have a lot of options out wide with Lucas Moura and Son Heung-min capable of playing as wingers.

However, the best performances from the pair come when playing down the middle. Erik Lamela has struggled with injuries over the past two seasons while Harry Kane has also had two major problems in the campaign.

Spurs haven’t spent in two transfer windows but we need to strengthen the side for the coming season.

Tottenham have been dealt with several injuries this season, but that hasn’t stopped us from reaching the Champions League final.
