Spurs transfer news: Tottenham end interest in Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha
The Evening Standard reports that Tottenham have ended their interest in Crystal Palace attacker Wilfried Zaha.
The Ivorian confirmed that he wanted to leave Selhurst Park for Champions League football, and the report adds that the 26-year-old has been a Spurs target for a while.
Zaha was excellent in the Premier League campaign as Palace fought off relegation to finish 12th in the league.
The Ivorian scored 10 goals and provided 5 assists for the Eagles, and the report claims that Palace have slapped a £100m price tag on Zaha.
Spurs unwilling to spend big on Zaha
The report adds that Spurs wanted to sign Zaha in the previous summer window but they weren’t willing to spend the £70m that Palace were asking for.
Zaha still has four years left on his new deal and earns around £130,000 a week, according to the Evening Standard.
Tottenham aren’t looking to smash their club record and pay £100m for Zaha (h/t Evening Standard).
The report adds that the Ivorian is expected to attract bids from other clubs. Zaha might be one of the best players from outside the top six but spending £100m seems to be on the high side.
