Spurs transfer news: Tottenham miss deadline to keep hold of Fernando Llorente
The Daily Mail reports that Tottenham have missed the deadline to extend Fernando Llorente’s contract, which signals the end of his time at Spurs.
The 34-year-old has scored some important goals for us this season, such as the one against Manchester City in the Champions League, however, he is set to leave for free at the end of the campaign.
Llorente scored eight times for us in all competitions and recorded five assists this season. The Spaniard also played a huge role in our 3-2 win over Ajax in the Champions League semifinal by coming on at half-time.
The report claims that the option to renew Llorente’s deal elapsed on Saturday and unless there is a major turnaround, he is leaving after the Champions League final.
Spurs face Liverpool in the final at the Wanda Metropolitano, and Llorente could play a key role in that game.
Many clubs interested in Llorente
The 34-year-old has garnered interest from many clubs, with the report suggesting that AS Roma, AC Milan, Marseille and Valencia are keeping tabs on the Spaniard.
Llorente hasn’t been fantastic for Spurs since signing from Swansea but this season, the Spaniard has worked his socks off for the side.
The 34-year-old isn’t as mobile as the other striking options that Spurs possess but he provides a different aspect to our game when he plays.

We need to find a quality back-up for Harry Kane due to his injury history, and it will be interesting to see who we could sign in the summer transfer window.
