Latest Spurs news: Mauricio Pochettino hopeful of Harry Kane return for Champions League final
Mauricio Pochettino has provided some positive news regarding Harry Kane ahead of the Champions League final.
Tottenham play Liverpool in Madrid on 1st June, and Kane has been going through the paces in training after recovering from an ankle injury.
The English striker picked up the problem against Manchester City in the Champions League and has not played since April.
However, Pochettino was speaking at the Bilbao International Football Summit and claimed Kane should play a role in the final (h/t Daily Mail):
“He’s training and has entered the final stage of his recovery.
“We’re hoping he’ll be able to give us a hand – either from the start, from the bench or if not, then by giving us moral support in the dressing room – but we are optimistic that he’ll be able to help us on the pitch.”
More players return to training for Tottenham
Kane returning to first-team would be a huge boost ahead of the final. A couple of other players were pictured training with the Englishman recently.
Davinson Sanchez and Jan Vertonghen are also carrying knocks and it is imperative that at least one of the centre-backs is fit to play alongside Toby Alderweireld.
Harry Winks was also seen in training as he continues his rehab from groin surgery, and the players still have a week to get into shape for the final.
