Spurs transfer news: Anderton wants Van de Beek over Tielemans
Former Tottenham midfielder Darren Anderton has urged the team to make a move in the summer window. The Express reports that Tottenham have been linked with Belgian star Youri Tielemans in recent weeks.
The Belgian joined Leicester City on loan in the second half of the season and it is to be seen what decision Monaco take regarding his future.
Tielemans did well under Brendan Rodgers, but Anderton wants us to move for Ajax’s Donny van de Beek. Speaking to SportingBet (h/t Express), Anderton believed the 22-year-old Dutch midfielder is better than Tielemans:
“Tielemans had a good half season at Leicester but Tottenham should look to sign Ajax’s Van de Beek over the Belgian. He was excellent in both legs against Tottenham and would be a great signing for the club.
“He’s a different class to the other players Tottenham have been linked with and the one I think they need to sign ahead of anyone else.”
Spurs get a close look at Van de Beek
Tottenham faced Van de Beek twice in the Champions League semi-final this season, and the 22-year-old also scored against us in the first leg.
Van de Beek had a better season in terms of goals scored when compared to Tielemans as he bagged 16 goals compared to just 8 by the Belgian this season.
Both players actually star in the same position, and it will be interesting to see if we make a serious move for either of them.

Tielemans has six months of Premier League experience under his belt, however, Van de Beek didn’t look too bad for Ajax in the league and Europe this season.
