Spurs transfer news: Tottenham to battle Barcelona for Giovani lo Celso
AS (h/t Sun) reports that Tottenham will battle La Liga champions Barcelona for the signing of Giovani lo Celso.
The report adds that Real Betis could be forced to sell one of their stars after failing to qualify for Europe.
Lo Celso joined Betis on a loan at the start of the campaign but the deal was made permanent as the former PSG star ended up signing for a fee of £20m, according to the report.
The Argentine attacker had a great season with the La Liga side scoring 14 goals and provided five assists in all competitions.
The report adds that Mauricio Pochettino is keen on the 23-year-old and might spend £53m to sign the Argentine sensation.
Barcelona interested in Lo Celso
Barcelona will provide the toughest competition for Lo Celso, according to the report, while Everton and Atletico Madrid are also interested in the 23-year-old.
Lo Celso could be a smart signing from Pochettino as the Argentina international is all set to play in the Copa America.
However, the report claims that Spurs are concerned that a great performance by Lo Celso could see his valuation increase in the summer.
The 23-year-old can play just behind the attacker or as the striker, and it will be interesting to see if we are willing to big bid for the Argentine.

Spurs haven’t spent on transfers in two windows, and that should change in the summer as we look to build on our Champions League final appearance.
