Spurs transfer news: Juventus meet agent to discuss Toby Alderweireld signing
Calciomercato (h/t Football.london) reports that Serie A champions Juventus met with agent Frank Trimboli regarding a possible move for Toby Alderweireld.
The Belgian has been one of our most consistent performers this season and should start in the Champions League final against Liverpool on 1 June.
The report adds that Juve have placed Alderweireld high on their transfer priority and the player would be available for £25m.
Alderweireld has a clause in his contract that allows him to leave for £25m in the summer, and the report adds that several clubs are interested in the Belgian defender.
Juventus recently saw one of their stalwarts in defence, Andrea Barzagli retire, and the picked up another Serie A title too.
The Italian giants will also be under new manager as Max Allegri parted ways with the club despite winning five Scudetto titles during his tenure in Turin.
Tottenham’s old guard needs young blood
Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen form a great pair at the back for Tottenham. However, the Belgians don’t have age on their side.
Vertonghen is 32 and might have a couple of quality seasons left in him, and we need to move for another young centre-back to cover the pair.
Davinson Sanchez has done an excellent job since moving from Ajax while Juan Foyth is a little raw and needs time to improve.
It would be difficult to replace Alderweireld should we lose him in the summer given his experience and quality.

Hopefully, a Champions League win can convince our top players from leaving the club as the final is just a few days away.
