Latest Spurs news: Winks and Trippier omitted from England team for Nations League
Gareth Southgate finalised his team for the Nations League and two Tottenham players were omitted from the 23-man list, reports Sky Sports.
Harry Winks and Kieran Trippier are the two who have been left out, while Nathan Redmond and James Ward-Prowse were also cut from the initial list of 27 players.
Tottenham stars Dele Alli, Danny Rose, Harry Kane and Eric Dier made it to the squad. Kane and Winks have returned from injuries and could feature for Tottenham in the Champions League final.
However, Sky Sports claims that Winks was omitted since he hasn’t played since April and would be assessed two days before England’s first game, which is against the Netherlands on June 6.
Trippier misses out due to excellent right-backs in England
The report adds that Southgate explained why Trippier missed out on the squad for the Nations League.
Trent Alexander-Arnold and Kyle Walker finished their seasons with Liverpool and Manchester City respectively on a high, and it is a little difficult seeing Trippier making it to the team after the campaign he had with Spurs.
The former Burnley defender struggled for consistency and made some major errors at the back despite coming off a wonderful World Cup campaign for England.
