Spurs transfer news: Kieran Trippier’s move to Napoli is off due to his age
The Sun reports that Kieran Trippier’s move to Italian giants Napoli is off as the Serie A club want to sign a young right-back.
The 28-year-old has had a tough time domestically, with several mistakes and poor performances this season.
The Tottenham defender was also dropped from England’s 23-man squad for the UEFA Nations League finals. Trippier could end the season on a high as Tottenham face Liverpool in the Champions League final.
The report adds that Napoli are looking for a player with resale value, and a source from the club spoke about the club’s policy of buying youngsters (h/t Sun):
“We will be pursuing a right back but will be going for a younger player, which is in line with the policy of the club.”
Tottenham still want big money for Trippier
The England defender had a great World Cup campaign with the Three Lions but just could not carry that form for Spurs.
Trippier could start in the Champions League final against Liverpool, and the report claims that Daniel Levy wants £40million for the 28-year-old in this transfer window.
The Englishman leaving for a decent sum should see us reinvest that amount in a better right-back. Serge Aurier hasn’t really set the team alight with his performances after joining from Paris Saint-German.

Kyle Walker-Peters has done a decent job in a few of his games this season but the youngster still doesn’t feel like he is the finished product.
