Latest Spurs news: Tottenham fans thank team for incredible Champions League ride
Tottenham did not have enough in their tank to script a final amazing chapter in their Champions League journey this season.
Spurs have pulled off some incredible comebacks in the tournament this time around but Liverpool got the rub of the green with a lucky penalty call in the first minute.
Moussa Sissoko was adjudged to have handled a Sadio Mane flick and Mohamed Salah made no mistake from the spot.
Spurs tried hard to get back in the game and we had some decent chances but Alisson was in great form.
The Brazilian denied us several times in the second half as we searched for the equaliser.
Late blow ends our hopes
Divock Origi came off the bench to score Liverpool’s second goal in the 87th minute and that was it for our chances of winning the Champions League.
Spurs reached the final without any investment in the team, and that is an incredible achievement under Mauricio Pochettino.
There were several players that seemed to be out of gas and out of sorts at the Wanda Metropolitano.
The team tried their best with Son Heung-min, Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli coming the closest, however, it just was not meant to be.
Many Tottenham supporters praised the team for reaching the final and backed Spurs to do more in the coming years.
