Latest Spurs news: Some fans question Harry Kane starting ahead of Lucas Moura
Tottenham’s Champions League dreams were dashed as Liverpool won the final 2-0 on Saturday.
Spurs had pulled off some incredible comebacks to reach the final in Madrid but the start of the game was terrible as Moussa Sissoko was adjudged to have handled the ball.
Mohamed Salah scored the penalty just after the first minute, and the call to penalise Sissoko was a tad harsh.
That didn’t affect us much as we kept pushing to get the equaliser. Harry Kane led the line and was starting his first match since the 1-0 win over Manchester City in April.
The Englishman wasn’t that big an influence in the game as he struggled to get something out of the Liverpool defence.
Mauricio Pochettino had to make some changes and brought on Lucas Moura late in the game.
Moura doesn’t have enough time for magic
The Brazilian attacker was our hero in the 3-2 win over Ajax a few weeks ago.
The former PSG star scored a late hat-trick to take us to the final, and his pace would have troubled Liverpool had he started the game.
Moura was in a bit of form while Kane was brought into the game without any minutes under his belt since his injury.
Some Tottenham fans questioned this decision by Mauricio Pochettino and shared their views on Twitter.
Big mistake starting Kane… zero match fitness… they would have been better off with Loucas Moura… still a good game… just not the finish that was expected…

Spurs deserved the L last night.
Poch got it wrong by starting Kane.
Moura deserved that start after his semi heroics.— Wezhira Museyamwa (@albertmarira) June 2, 2019
Should’ve started Moura. An insult not to. Kane and Winks did not deserve the start. Either way, COYS

Moura should have started. We have a Harry Kane problem and as long as we don’t have the bottle to bench him, we’ll get into these situations. Wasn’t the only reason, obviously, but felt it played a big role #COYS

Still stick with my gut feeling that Kane shouldn’t have started. That’s not just because we lost tonight. He clearly wasn’t “match” fit where he could perform at his best level. Personally think Moura should have started instead. What matters now though is that we invest, COYS!

Winks and Kane should never have started… the disrespect from poch to drop Moura was unreal… poor team selection from him, well taken goal by origi. Drowning my sorrows. #LIVTOT #COYS

We played the wrong game.
No pace
No intensity
No ideas going forward
Moura should’ve started with Kane on the benchHowever…..SO PROUD OF MY TEAM TO REACH THIS FAR
it wasn’t a classic game or performance, but you gave us hope and happiness along the adventure.
Thanks
COYS

A few thoughts:
It’s great Spurs made it to a final, a huge accomplishment.
That penalty was questionable & changed the game.
Spurs played ok, possibly better than Liverpool for most of the game, but the second goal killed it.
Moura should have started over Kane. #COYS
