Spurs transfer news: Tottenham to back Mauricio Pochettino in the summer window
The Mirror reports that Tottenham will back Mauricio Pochettino in the transfer market after our Champions League heartbreak.
Liverpool beat us in the final 2-0 and Pochettino highlighted the lack of spending by the team despite reaching the final (h/t Mirror):
“It would have been something that would have surprised people because in the last five years Tottenham prioritised their stadium and spent zero on transfers. We’re not the smartest in the class, but not the stupidest either.”
The report claims that Daniel Levy wants to show Pochettino that the club can match the Argentine’s ambitions.
The chairman knows that Pochettino left Southampton when the Saints could not guarantee him that they would keep their top players (h/t Mirror).
Tottenham making their move in the summer window
The report adds that Pochettino wants to revamp his side and Tottenham are interested in four players.
Ryan Sessegnon of Fulham and Celta Vigo attacker Maxi Gomez interest Spurs and the report claims that Tottenham have also seen bids rejected for Giovani lo Celso of Real Betis and Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele.
There wasn’t much between Liverpool and Tottenham in the final but the Reds took their chances. However, Liverpool spent a lot in the summer and added three quality players to their side while they got a great deal for Xherdan Shaqiri.
Alisson was one of the stars in the final as he blocked everything we threw at him, and the Brazilian was signed in the summer by Liverpool.
